CROCTOBERFEST
This conservation event is held on the first weekend of October each year. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park partners with breweries and vendors throughout Florida to offer sample beers, food, and live music as you stroll through the zoo and learn about conservation work happening right here in St Johns County.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Mugger Crocodile Conservation
Mugger crocodiles are endemic to South Asia and are vulnerable to extinction due to habitat loss, agricultural expansion, and hunting. Funds raised through Croctoberfest will support research in Sri Lanka examining the home ranges and seasonal movements of one of the species’ largest remaining populations. This collaboration between the University of Hawaiʻi and Sri Lanka’s University of Sri Jayewardenepura will help guide conservation planning and improve our understanding of mugger crocodile ecology and behavior, supporting efforts to protect both crocodiles and local communities.
